Stop trademark litigation against the Creation 7th Day & Adventist Church

The Seventh-day Adventist Church, known worldwide for its stance on religious liberty and freedom of conscience, has persisted in a trademark lawsuit against Pr. Walter McGill and the Creation 7th Day & Adventist Church. This lawsuit has culminated in the arrest of multiple members of the CSDA Church who have spent a combined total of 40 days fasting while in Federal custody.

Their religious beliefs will not allow them to change the name of their religion.

The Courts have acknowledged that the use of the name "Creation 7th Day Adventist" is a sincerely held religious belief. Further, there is no evidence of confusion and the Court has ruled that there was no intent to confuse, deceive, or profit from the name of the Seventh-day Adventist Church on the part of the Creation 7th Day Adventists.



Despite this, the Courts ruled in favor of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, which has since requested civil sanctions against the smaller denomination. Pastor McGill was arrested in July and served 30 days in a Federal detention facility, where he went without food. Lucan Chartier, a member of the church, served 10 days in a similar facility and also fasted.



 

We demand that this group be allowed to practice their religious beliefs freely and without interference from the civil government. We demand that the Seventh-day Adventist church cease all litigation and drop all requests for sanctions, allowing this church to operate freely as their conscience dictates. This is the only course of action consistent with religious liberty and freedom of conscience, which the Seventh-day Adventist Church claims to hold dear.
